What We Did

To address the expansive soil beneath the new Ascent Classical Academy addition, Total Concrete Services and JHL Constructors worked with VoidForm to provide proven structural protection throughout the gymnasium’s functional lifespan, using StormVoid and PlumbingVoid.

With the project specifications calling for void forms, the plans also required 36 custom DropPanels in various sizes, requiring complex takeoffs. DropPanels are pre-manufactured and sealed void forms that support cantilevered pier caps.

VoidForm’s team efficiently handled the project’s added complexity by developing a clear, color-coded labeling and organization system on the takeoff, ensuring ease of installation and minimal confusion for crews on site.

The StormVoid product line was chosen for this project, because although construction was initially slated to begin in November, several delays and school scheduling pushed concrete work into the wetter months. Installed ahead of the concrete pour, StormVoid maintained its integrity through periods of heavy rain, proving its durability in wet conditions and keeping the schedule on track.

For this project, Total Concrete Services installed:

“The VoidForm team went above and beyond in making this complex project successful. Not only did all the pieces fit like a glove, but their labeling and mapping of the pieces were perfect. I also really appreciate Nick coming out to the job site to check on the process and see if we had any issues.”
