About the Project

Tommy’s Express Car Wash in Littleton, Colorado, sought an innovative system to protect its extensive underground piping and electrical systems from the risk of expansive soil. With the excavation already complete for the plumbing, the contractor opted to deploy the PlumbingVoid system for both the pipes and the electrical systems.

What We Did

Tommy’s Express Car Wash was a small yet complex commercial project due to the extensive underground plumbing and utilities that underpin all modern car wash operations. The general contractor completed the first round of excavation for the pipes and then opted to cut down on the costs associated with a second excavation for the electrical conduit by integrating the two systems into one void project.

PlumbingVoid was installed to protect both systems from the potential risk of the site’s expansive soil. Despite the complexities of working with two separate networks running beneath the 6,000-square-foot facility, the PlumbingVoid system easily accommodated overlapping lines, pipes, and conduits within the void space. The project saved substantial time and costs by avoiding a second excavation during the build-out.
