About the Project
In 2018, a major airport in Colorado embarked on a challenging Gate Expansion Program, aiming to create 39 new gates across four concourses. The project faced a challenging issue from the get-go: highly expansive soil at the edges of each concourse undergoing expansion. To mitigate this risk, the general contractor selected SureVoid, StormVoid, and PlumbingVoid systems, innovative solutions that would be deployed across the project.

What We Did
With all concourses combined, the international airport expansion installed more than 375,000 square feet of SureVoid, StormVoid, and PlumbingVoid. VoidForm was able to meet delivery deadlines, and with the weather protection offered by StormVoid, it kept the development on schedule through the spring and summer months (both seasons in which Colorado experiences regular afternoon storms and inclement weather).
The expansion project also elected to install PlumbingVoid across all four concourses to properly isolate their underground utilities from the expansive soil on site. The PlumbingVoid System was specifically designed to work in concert with other VoidForm systems to provide an innovative solution for utilities in highly expansive soil conditions.
From a successful collaboration with the general contractors to develop a custom solution for voiding out underneath 25-foot-high walls to educational sessions outlining the various options and installation procedures for each system, the VoidForm service team provided support at every step of the project.
