About the Project
The Kevin Worthy Fate High School project began in 2024 following Royse City ISD voters’ approval of an $863 million bond package. With the local population more than tripling since 2010, this new school, scheduled to open in 2027, will help accommodate the growing student population in both Royse and Fate, Texas.

What We Did
As is the case across much of the Southern US, the land for the new Kevin Worthy Fate High School project was deemed to contain a high degree of expansive soil. Over time, the soil’s shrink-swell characteristics could risk damaging the foundation and above-slab structure, long before students walk through the school’s doors.
To help mitigate the risk of this challenging soil, Miller Sierra, the concrete contractor, deployed VoidForm’s SureVoid® product line prior to slab work. By creating a void space underneath the slab, SureVoid helps provide long-term protection to concrete structures, like Keven Worthy Fate High School, from damage caused by the expansive nature of the adjacent soils.
For this project, Miller Sierra Contractors Inc. installed:
33,000+ square feet of Backfill Retainer
200+ Drop Panels
230,000+ square feet of SlabVoid
VoidForm ensures that Fate’s new school is not only ready to welcome students in 2027, but also safe and structurally sound for its functional lifespan.
